Jabo Muhammad Sani Muhammad, Said Yunusa Muhammad.

Abstract
This paper examined the determinants of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)/ Sokoto Agricultural and Community Development Project (SACDP) assisted micro-credit among small-holder farmers in Wamakko Local Government Area (L.G.A) of Sokoto State, Nigeria. Simple random sampling technique was adopted in selecting 90 respondents; 45 micro-credit benefiting and 45 non-benefiting farmers. Primary data were collected with the use of structured questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistics OLS were used in achieving the objectives of the study. The study established that majority of the beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries of IFAD Micro-credit (71.1% and 100% respectively) had farming as their major occupation. Majority (64.5%) accessed their micro-credit from informal sources. The study also concludes that level of education of the small-holder farmers, major occupation, awareness, source borrow, form of credit, mode of delivery and interest rate are the key factors that affect the access to micro-credit in the Wammako L.G.A. The study recommends the need for financial institutions through the central bank to look at the issue of reducing the interest rate. The paper suggests that farmers should form strong and viable cooperative groups to enable them pull their resources together for easy access to loan or credit from bank and other sources.

Key words: Micro-credit; Small-holder farmers; Acess, IFAD
