LOW-COST REMOTE-CONTROLLED WHITEBOARD CLEANING SYSTEM

Adekunle Taofeek Oyelami, Ayomide Ogunsemi, Olusola Akintunlaji.

Abstract
Whiteboards are widely used in almost every educational institute or working environment. Frequent manual cleaning of the whiteboards can be quite laborious and time-consuming. The developed remote-controlled whiteboard cleaning system solves these problems through the use of sensors for movement control and Arduino UNO as the microcontroller. The components that make up the developed system include: a four-channel relay which is connected to the controller to operate the movement of the system; a remote control to operate the system and sensors to obtain necessary signals to ascertain the current position of the wiper. The system was integrated with microcontroller using assembly language. Two ultrasonic sensors are placed at both ends of the board to automatically stop the wiper from moving once it reaches either end of the board. The performance evaluation carried out on the developed prototype was satisfactory and the system will serve as a modern teaching aid which will enhance productivity and efficiency.
